Tuesday, May 01, 1984 to Sunday, May 01, 1994
  • My favorite Mark Twain quote: I've lived through some terrible things in my life and some of them actually happened. I start every Life History and Lewis and Clark workshop with this one. http://ozarkstories.com Sincerity Be happy to the success of others. Know that there is enough for everyone. Jealousy, Envy, Cynicism, Fear, Selfishness, and Hatred will surely tear you down. Reread the chapter on Thoughts to ensure that you understand how the subconscious delivers. Laugh at yourself and the World laughs with you. Laugh at others and the World laughs at y ...continued...

Learning Goals
Monday, February 20, 2017 to Thursday, March 02, 2017
  • After review of the course syllabus, learning goals, and the results of my self-assessment, my learning goals for the rest of this course are: 1. To gain more knowledge about numerous cultural beliefs, practices, attitudes, and ways of communicating as to better understand how this effects people’s view on medicine so I can become more aware of how to best serve patients of all different cultures in my future. 2. To understand my own cultural experiences and how these influence biases that I possess and work to overcome these biases to become a more culturally competent ...continued...

Slice of Memory
Friday, August 16, 2013
  • I have commitment and relationship problems because when I was little my parents would make fun of me for liking boys and say I was too young to like anyone. As I grew older the thoughts scarred my mind and now at 20 I have yet to have a boyfriend. My sister has a boyfriend of 2 years and every time I talk to a guy my parents tell me its a waste of time and that I don't need anyone... Now I'm stuck telling myself that. I don't even know what "love" feels like, or what being a girlfriend is like. I am just the lone runner trying to reach the goals of a champion, and ...continued...

Thursday, October 01, 1964
  • During my freshman year of college Mike and Bobby, two of the active members of my fraternity, invited me to accompany them on a night road hunt. I didn't have a clue what a night road hunt was but the older boys told me it would be great fun. Mike was the president of the fraternity I had recently pledged, and Bobby was the treasurer, so I figurered they must be trustworthy. I knew they were both well respected, both in our fraternity and on campus. I met the pair in the parking lot of the fraternity house after dark. Bobby was armed with a 12-guag ...continued...

understanding of cultural diversity issues.
Tuesday, January 31, 2017 to Friday, February 10, 2017
  • Question: “To what extent do my beliefs, prejudices or biases influence my thinking in terms of providing service in my profession or work?” I would say that my beliefs, prejudices, or biases have no influence in providing services in my work. I work in a hospital as a imaging assistant so, i see a lot of diversity and different beliefs. No matter what i will always give good quality care to patients, just like anyone deserves. Some examples from the quiz are: Question 10: if a family member speaks English as well as the patient&rsq ...continued...
