ImaStory

I was 3 years old and I stepped on a tomato in the garden and was warned by my dad not to do it again and i did it again anyway. I though about the story after one of my (2) grandsons asked me what the first thing i remembered. So this is a conversation between the three of us.

Sunny The Goose Addled Dog
Thursday, December 28, 1939 to Wednesday, December 28, 1949
One summer afternoon when i was about (10) years old, I sat on the bank of the farm pond, daydreaming and listening to a red winged blackbird sing. While Dad fixed the door of the corncrib the wind had torn off, Sunny, our Australian Shepard, plunged into the water in front of me. Barking and biting at the sparkling droplets that splashed in front of his face, he swam toward a flock of Canada geese, herding them along as they honked and flapped their wings. About twenty feet from the bank, the geese seemed to realize they had Sunny outnumbered. They did an about-face, honking loudly with th ...continued...

SAD The Life Story Was Not Started Earlier
Sunday, February 12, 2012
As Mark Twain once said, “there has never been an uninteresting life.” Hi Rolland,
Wanted to let you know that I have gotten your cousin Wave started writing her life story. I just have a few pages going but that is a start, isn't it? I thought I would send them to you when I get further along, this way you can tell me if ...continued...

Bathing a Snake In The Shower
Friday, May 01, 1964 to Wednesday, May 01, 1974
Published by Central Methodist University © 2011 My roommate at Central Methodist University, Fayette, Missouri, was Max Nickerson (class of 1960), but everyone called him Snake. He helped his dad run Nickerson’s Zoological Gardens. Snake was my roommate during my freshman year and always had a stash of exotic wild meat, rattlesnake being one of his favorites and mine as well after I adapted to the idea. Snake had been bitten by a cottonmouth when he was a youngster and lost is index finger down to the second joint. His trademark, in addition to other things was sticking the s ...continued...

Skunk Surprise
Friday, December 28, 2007
The reason i'm posting this recipe is because it appears in a cookbook called Homegrown in the Ozarks: Mountain Meals and Memories which of all things was a finalist for best book of the year in Missouri in 2007 and i told my co-author Mary-Lane when we complied the book we shouldn't put it in because there are so many wonderful recipes from the Ozark Mountain in the 1930's and 1940's when ladies cooked on woodburning cast iron stoves and it just did not fit and it's been the most read and commented on of all 140 recipe listings. A Skunk Recipe That Serves (2) I ...continued...

My Neighbor Mows My Yard Even Though I say "Stop Mowing"
Thursday, July 01, 2004 to Monday, June 30, 2014
More Love Stories - http://tinyurl.com/j5mbhlu My neighbor mows my yard every week even though i have asked him to stop many times. He also appeared yesterday with a chain saw and was going to cut down my big maple tree in the front yard. I have a plan but i can't tell you what it is just yet. 7/1/2014 I started this story sometime ago and thought I best add a bit more information because of continued request from readers so here is my next thought. My neighbor, the same one I mentioned earlier, decided if he was to continue mowing my yard, t ...continued...

Buying Stuff Presented @ a KC Writers Group Reader Function I enrolled in a comedy writing class at UMKC in Kansas City a couple of years ago and this is a version of my script that was broadcast on a local radio station. Writing comedy is a difficult venue. I say that in case you don’t think what have composed is funny. Today I’m going to tal ...continued...

A view from the eyes of a 100 Pound Catfish living in the Missouri River
Thursday, January 01, 2004 to Tuesday, December 31, 2013
The catfish in my photo weighed over (100) pounds and was at least 40 years old. (I didn¹t catch it but I know who did and they let me borrow the big fish for this picture.) When you¹re having a bad day think of this big Blue Cat¹s degree of dullness. Day after day searching for food hoping not to find a hook attached, only able to see an inch or so in front of your face and about all to look forward too would be periodic mating. I¹m not even sure how much fun that would be considering you couldn¹t see the stranger you¹re hooking up with and ...continued...
